Five pilots of Air India, an engineer, and a technician have been tested positive for the novel virus today and the latest these pilots traveled was to Guangzhou in one of the cargo flights. As we know, ever since the lockdown, Air India has been operating cargo flights outside the country in order to rescue stranded Indians including Italy and Iran.
The international flights which were operated by these five pilots were Boeing 787 Dreamliners flights to Guangzhou from Delhi on April 18 in order to pick up medical supplies. The last they traveled was on 20 April.
Not only this, but the airline is also said to have flown operated medical cargo flights to Shanghai and Hong Kong recently. As a part of the government’s given guidelines, the airline usually undergoes a swab test for COVD-19, both before and after operation of a flight. And 77 pilots have been tested for the virus.
Since the test results come to notice after 48 hours, the crew members waited at a hotel. Unfortunately, five of the pilots have been tested positive. If tested negative, the airline car drops crew members back to their residence.
It is said that AirIndia has taken precautionary measures to enure the safety of its crew members in Manhattan NewYork. The crew members while operating fights have all donned PPE suits, gloves, masks, and goggles.
