In a major development, the AP High Court has squashed the single judge bench verdict on the Panchayat elections and gave its green signal for holding the polls. Challenging the single judge bench’s decision, AP State Election Commission (APSEC) has approached the Division Bench.
For three days, the Division Bench has heard the arguments from both the government and APSEC sides. After thorough and detailed hearing and arguments, the AP High Court has squashed the single judge verdict.
The AP High Court has instructed the APSEC to held the elections in a peaceful manner with all Covid-19 precautionary measures.
With this, the notification released earlier by APSEC will stand as it is. From February 4th, the local body polls will be held in four phases.
Meanwhile we hear that the YCP government is considering to approach the Supreme Court on AP High Court’s latest decision.
