There is still no clarity on when the Movie Artists Association’s (MAA) elections will be held. We have been witnessing a huge drama between various groups for the last one month. Meanwhile, it is now being heard that the responsibility has been shifted to veteran actor Krishnam Raju to decide on the date of elections.
To handle the issues of MAA, Megastar Chiranjeevi started a disciplinary committee in 2019. Krishnam Raju was appointed as the head of it. Chiranjeevi, Murali Mohan, Mohan Babu, and Jaya Sudha are members of it. Even the executive committee of MAA agreed that the disciplinary committee’s call will be final in any dispute.
Chiru resigned to his post earlier this year but the rest of the members are yet to approve his resignation. So technically, he is still a member of the committee.
The tenure of the present MAA executive committee was finished in March this year. Since then, a few people have written letters to MAA president about the dates of the next elections. Actors like Prakash Raj, Jeevitha Rajasekhar, and Manchu Vishnu have formed their panels as well.
Apparently, the executive committee asked Krishnam Raju to take the final decision. It is heard that he has consulted the rest of the members regarding the same and their collective call will be final.
In the meantime, there are chances of the disciplinary committee set up a temporary committee to handle the disputes between the panels that are in the election race. They may also be given the job of finishing the pending works of MAA until the new president is elected. Apparently, a senior actress was approached to take up this job but it seems that she rejected the offer.
