Actor and humanitarian, Sonu Sood is undoubtedly the pandemic’s pivotal personality. He made an indelible mark with his noble works across the nation. The actor extended relentless help during the devastating period by being instrumental in providing oxygen supply, hospital beds and other resources. In one of his recent interviews, Sonu said that social work is an extension of his work itself and it is not something different.
Now that the second wave is resting with declining cases, the actor also gets back to films with uninterrupted social work. While people called him messiah, Sonu denies saying that he is only doing what he learned from his parents. “I am doing nothing extraordinary, and I believe that everyone should do their bit in trying to help each other out,” he said.
He further said that all the social work in these one and a half years did not impact his film career in any way. He says he is still in pursuit of good roles and scripts. “I am choosing scripts that look interesting to me, and that’s my primary focus,” he quoted. “I’m getting many movies and roles that are larger than life but that doesn’t mean I will do them all. I choose films only when I am absolutely in love with them,” Sonu said.
The ator further opened up saying that he feels bad for not being able to help everyone who approached him. He says he wants to help everyone who has sent him a message or has taken the pains to come to visit him.
“I hope that I am able to help each and everyone, and not let anyone go empty-handed”. He also continued that pandemic has made him and everyone realize that success, fame, wealth are secondary. “You may be the richest man in the world, and yet not be able to get the proper medical attention needed for yourself or your family. So, those kinds of realisations have hit me and the entire human race hard. Health has to be given the utmost importance”
When an interviewer asked how he is managing alone with innumerable calls every day, the actor said that he has an entire team of over 400 people who’re helping him. He said even his kids love helping him “I hope they are able to grow up to do many more things than what I am doing. That’s the aim that any father can have”. He was later asked about his collaboration with countries like France and Taiwan to set up oxygen plants in India. Sonu said that he is in the process of bringing in many more oxygen plants from not just France and Taiwan, but many other countries. He confirmed that things are going well and are in the current stages of approval.”
Hopefully, with these oxygen plants, we will be able to prepare ourselves better for the third wave, whenever it comes,” he concluded.
