Shalini made her entry into films as a child artist and went on to become a heroine. She shot fame with the 2000 super hit romantic drama Alaipayuthey (Sakhi in Telugu), which was directed by Mani Ratnam. Unfortunately, she bid adieu to her acting career after that film.
After marrying star hero Ajith, Shalini left films and focussed on the family. If the latest buzz in Kollywood is anything to go by, she is now all set to make her comeback after more than two decades, with another Mani Ratnam film titled Ponniyin Selvan.
As per the reports, Shalini will be playing a brief role in this dream project of Mani Ratnam. Though the makers haven’t revealed the news officially, the Wikipedia page of Shalini shows her next film as Ponniyin Selvan.
Maybe, the makers want it to be a surprise and thus, they are not revealing much about the character of Shalini in the film.
Ponniyin Selvan features Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Sarathkumar, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. The shoot is currently happening in Pondicherry.
Ponniyin Selvan is being made in two parts. The first part will hit the screens in summer 2022. The large scale visual wonder is bankrolled by Subaskaran under Lyca Productions.
