Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has become quite choosy in accepting her roles and films post her marriage, has signed her favourite director Mani Ratnam’s next. Aishwarya had formally confirmed that she is part of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.
After the second wave of Covid-19, Mani Ratnam has resumed the film’s shoot and Aishwarya is back on the sets. Aishwarya flew down to Pondicherry where the film is being shot. Aishwarya had shared the recent poster of PS-1 and wrote, “The Golden Era comes to Life Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan PS1”.
Being made on a large canvas in two parts, the film has a stellar cast including Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan and Prakash Raj. The film is a historical drama based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1995 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman is composing the film’s soundtrack. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, PS-1 is slated for 2022 release.
