The Movie Artists Association (MAA) election has kept the film industry buzzing like it always does. Actors expressing their willingness to contest, then holding press meets and then counters, many such developments have taken place.
But when are the elections going to be held? Well this decision was pending at veteran actor Krishnam Raju who happens to be the Chairman of Disciplinary Committee. But in a shocking twist 15 members of MAA Executive Council have written to Krishnam Raju, urging him to hold the elections with immediate effect.
In this letter, the Executive Council members stated that the last MAA governing body was elected in March 2019 and its tenure ended in March 2021. Due to some unavoidable reasons, the elections could not be held in this year’s March. So the current governing body has morally no right to continue. The majority members urged the Disciplinary Committee chairman to take a call on the elections and schedule them as early as possible.
Meanwhile the Executive Committee meeting is scheduled on Thursday. Generally for the Executive Committee meetings MAA President would take the chair but for this current meeting Krishnam Raju will occupy the chair since the tenure of MAA governing body has ended.
Krishnam Raju is likely to bring the letter written by the majority executive committee to the notice of MAA members. He would seek their opinion on dissolving the MAA governing body and finalising the elections.
Overall, developments are looking towards finding an amicable solution on holding the MAA elections.
