Hero Sushanth scored back to back hits with Chi La Sow and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo. His forthcoming venture Ichata Vahanamulu Nilupa Radu directed by debutant S Darshan is all set for release tomorrow. Meanwhile, the actor interacted with scribes to share interesting aspects of the film.
What was Trivikram’s influence on you?
Ala Vaikunthapurramloo was a big platform for me. I learnt a lot from Trivikram sir. I’m able to work without any pressure and I’m enjoy shooting for my films. Trivikram sir in a positive sense told me that, I’ve become very relaxed and am enjoying every bit of my work. In fact, I got Sprite Ad, after Ala Vaikunthapurramloo.
How did Ichata Vahanamulu Nilupa Radu happen?
Director Sagar introduced Darshan to me, one or two months before Chi La Sow and I felt the story was very fresh. I wanted to do it as a follow up to Chi La Sow, as I connected to most of the story. The incident happened to his friend and he too was present. However, I got a role in Ala Vaikunthapurramloo and I wanted to do it. But, I gave my 100% word to Darshan that I’ll do it after AVPL.
How did you handle pandemic?
We started the film’s shoot on Feb 1st. We planned to release it in June. But the pandemic came. However, there was positive vibe on the film. We then planned to release it on January 1st. But, we couldn’t make it due to delay in post-production works. In March, second wave of the pandemic came. It was tough. Cinema was not the priority everyone and we got good OTT offers. Fortunately, non-theatrical rights were sold for fancy amounts and producers too were safe with the deals. So, we decided to go for theatres.”
Are you really confident about the film?
I’m very confident about the film. Every one of us gave our best for the movie. It’s my best work till date. In fact, the film’s OTT and other deals were closed, only after screening the movie to buyers.
Did you feel the title was too lengthy?
Darshan at first told me a title in Tamil. It translate to No Parking in English. Then, we thought of translating the same to title. Ichata Vahanamulu Nilupa Radu sounded interesting. Then, we added the tagline No Parking to the title.
How did Meenakshi Chaudhary came on board?
My Chi La Sow co-star Ruhani told me about a work shop in Mumbai. Meenakshi Chaudhary was one of the batchmates there. We did few scenes together. She’s a terrific performer. She signed to do a Punjabi film. When I asked whether she had any interest in doing Telugu films, she said of course. My team too liked her. She’s already busy and I’m very happy for that.
When will you get married?
I will marry, when I find a correct person. My mom too didn’t force me on my marriage.
Did you sign any other film?
I heard a story which we are planning to do as Telugu-Tamil bilingual. It’s another different story. I don’t want to reveal the genre. Still, it is in pre-production stages.
