Ever since theatres have opened in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, despite facing a ticket rate issue in one of the Telugu states, movie makers are frequently hitting the box office with their films. For the now, none of the movies clicked well and here comes next Friday, with two more Telugu movies testing their luck.
First, we have Srinivas Avasarala’s 101 Jillala Andagadu coming up, whose trailer caught the eye of many movie lovers. While the trailer suggests that the film is a pakka OTT product, the makers are going for theatrical release on September 3rd. At the same time, not so popular faces, but upcoming actors Adith Arun and Mega Akash are coming up with their triangle love story “Dear Megha” on the same date. Guess, who is their competition now?
Apparently Hollywood movie Fast and Furious 9 is now getting ahead for a theatrical release on Sept 3 across India as well. And the film will be released in the Telugu language as well as English across Telugu states. With action movies not coming up on the silver screen in recent times, and a Hollywood franchise like Fast and Furious that has a huge fan following in India hitting the marquee, surely the film is likely to become a big competition for the two small-budgeted Telugu films, say, exhibitors.
But then, end of the day it is content that matters and even for a Hollywood film, there will be huge openings only if the first show gets a positive response. Let’s wait for this Friday!
