There’s been an ongoing conversation between multiplex chains and makers of Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivii over the release of the film in theatres. And here we have netizens voicing their opinions pleading PVR to screen the Hindi version of the film along with Tamil and Telugu.
Kangana Ranaut also expressed her concern and took to social media to share her plight with her fans regarding multiplexes’ opposition to screen Thalaivii in theatres. In a heartbroken state, Kangana had requested multiplex owners to support each other in these difficult times.
Soon after, PVR released a statement about screening the Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie as it follows the standard 4-week protocol before streaming on OTT. The Hindi version will commence streaming in two weeks and the chain owner expressed disappointment, requesting a uniform decision for all languages.
Fans on Twitter demanded PVR to screen the Hindi version of Thalaivii, with a trend line ‘PVR RELEASE THALAIVII IN HINDI’. A few states, including Maharashtra, haven’t opened theatres yet, and therefore, a large section of cinephiles are deprived of watching this one of the most promising films of the year on the release date.
Thalaivvi, a film based on the life of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, is Kangana’s grand comeback to Tamil cinema after a gap of over 12 years. Releasing on Sept 10, it is directed by AL Vijay.
