The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is continuing to grill the Tollywood celebrities in connection with a money-laundering probe that is linked to the drug case of 2017. In the process, actor Nandu and drug dealer Calvin Mascarenhas were questioned by the ED officials the other day.
Nandu arrived at the ED office on Tuesday morning and was questioned for more than eight hours. He was actually summoned for the interrogation on September 20. It is still unclear why his questioning was held early. It is reported that he was primarily asked about his financial transactions and bank details.
Nandu is the fourth Tollywood celebrity, after Puri Jagannath, Charmme Kaur, and Rakul Preet Singh, to be questioned by the officials in the past week. The ED has sent notices to 10 celebrities which include the names of Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Mumaith Khan, Navdeep, and Ravi Teja’s driver Srinivas.
On the flip side, ED officials have also questioned prime-accused Calvin Mascarenhas and two other accused Abdul Wahed and Abdul Quddus. Apparently, they were asked about the suspicious financial transactions with some of the Tollywood celebrities.
The drug racket was busted in 2017 when the customs officials had arrested Calvin Mascarenhas and three others. Drugs worth Rs. 30 lakh were seized from their possession at that time.
During the investigation, the accused have stated that they deal with prominent Tollywood celebrities, software professionals, and students as well.
It’s Rana’s turn today. He already reached the ED office for the questioning. More details on the same will be out by the end of the day.
