Looks like two remakes of the same movie are hitting the OTT platform around the same time with the Malayalam film Bhramam, a remake of cult Hindi blockbuster Andhadhun getting ready for a release. Recently the Telugu version of this film, Maestro featuring Nithin, Tamanna and Nabha Natesh in the leads had released on Hotstar to entertain the Telugu audience.
Though there was a huge buzz around Maestro, somehow the Goa backdrop and other factors in the film haven’t entertained many folks though critics liked it. Many movie lovers who watched it complained that the film lacks soul and failed to do justice to the rustic intensity that could be seen in the original film. Even the characters of Tamanna and Nabha, played by Tabu and Radhika Apte respectively in the original, haven’t created any excitement.
Cut to the Malayalam version, none other than superstar Prithviraj is seen playing the lead and he has scored terrific marks if the trailer is anything to go by. With cinematographer Ravi K Chandran being the director as well, the look and feel of the project is something that has outshine both the Hindi and the Telugu versions. But how far Mamata Mohandas will impress in the role of Tabu is something we should see as she too looked more like a Tamanna, a glamorous diva, but not like Tabu who would steal the show in the original. Raashi Khanna is okay in the role played by Radhika Apte.
We have to see if Prithviraj will pull it off well and bring more applause and appreciation to the remake, unlike Nithin who has only partially succeded.
