Actor cum director Ravi Babu who generally stays away from controversies sprung a surprise ahead of Movie Artists Association (MAA) elections. Ravi Babu shared a video byte and he twisted the whole local and non-local argument in MAA elections.
“Our filmmakers cast heroines and actors from other languages. They are of the opinion that our Telugu actors are not suitable for that particular role in their films. This may be the directors and producers choice because they put in their own money. So there is nothing wrong in it,” says Ravi Babu.
Further Ravi Babu said, “In recent times, filmmakers are deploying reputed cameramen and spending a bomb on them. The outdoor unit bills of these cameramen are burning the pockets of our producers yet they are being favoured for unknown reasons. Whereas there are about 150 to 200 Telugu cameramen in Hyderabad who are without work for months now.”
Ravi Babu called this act of our filmmakers, as an unfortunate thing but when it comes to MAA, it was established to address the concerns of Telugu artists, technicians and others involved in it.
Questioning Ravi Babu asked, “MAA is a small organisation and one credible artist is enough to handle its affairs. But the sad state is an outsider is contesting for the MAA President role? Are we so inefficient?”
Summing up, Ravi Babu reiterated that this is not a local and non-local issue but it’s time to give a second thought about MAA.
