Remaking a classic is never an easy job. Already, the original version would have been created a huge impact on the wider section of audiences. When a remake version arrives, people will definitely compare it to the original. So, living up those comparisons will be a herculean task for the makers.
Sriram Raghavan’s Andhadhun is one such film whose remakes are failing to create an impact. This 2018 Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer thriller was a smashing hit in Bollywood. It was widely watched by the South Indian audiences too, on the OTT platforms.
Due to its universal content, Andhadhun got multiple remake offers. Nithiin remade the film as Maestro in Telugu while Prithviraj Sukumaran remade it with the title Brahmam in Malayalam. Prashanth is currently remaking it in Tamil.
Maestro had a direct digital premiere on Disney+Hotstar last month. Starring Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh in the other lead roles, this movie was a carbon copy of Andhadhun. However, it failed to create the magic of the original.
The same is the case with Bhramam which premiered on Amazon Prime Video a couple of days back. Viewers compared it to the original and opined that it was nowhere near to the standards of Andhadhun.
Now, all eyes are on the Tamil remake featuring Prashanth. It has to be seen if this movie also ends up a failed attempt or impresses the audiences by exceeding their expectations.
