Despite getting negative reviews, there is no stopping for Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe at the box office. Within two days of its release, the film collected Rs. 100 crores and became the top grosser among Tamil films after the pandemic. It is the second Tamil film, after Doctor, to collect Rs. 100 crores in the post-pandemic era.
Annaatthe had hit the screens on November 4, on the occasion of Deepawali. It got humongous openings across Tamil Nadu and commendable openings in the rest of the centres. The film grossed Rs. 70.19 crores on its opening day, which is the highest for any Tamil film.
In Tamil Nadu alone, the film collected a gross of Rs. 34.92 crore on the first day. The rampage continued on the second day as well and the movie was able to mint Rs. 42.63 crores at the ticket counters across the world. On the whole, Annaatthe did a worldwide business of Rs. 112.82 crores in just two days of its release.
The collections are expected to be high today as well considering the Sunday factor. Thus, we can expect another big number from today’s earnings.
Annaatthe collected Rs. 62.07 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. The trade analysts are predicting that the TN collections will cross the 100-crore mark either today or tomorrow.
Directed by Siva, Annaatthe features Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Meena and Kushboo in the other key roles.
