November… Bad Omen For Tollywood?

Published by

Earlier from February second week to March first week was considered as a non-season. Films striking the box office during this period would suffer from box office collections. The prime reason being, students would be busy with exams and preparations while parents would be worried about their kids. So general audiences would show less interest in walking into cinema halls.

But this misconception was erased this year by ‘Uppena’ and ‘Jathiratnalu.’ The box office collections of these movies were stunning and so next year, films like Megastar’s ‘Acharya’ ‘F3’ and ‘Major’ that have huge craze have locked their release in February.

Among the trade analysts the delusion over February and March releases is getting faded but in no time, November month has occupied this thought. Over the past few years, films released in November month met with disastrous response and the collections were very dull.

The same happened this November so far. None of the Diwali releases (Maruthi’s ‘Manchi Rojuluochaie’, Rajinikanth’s ‘Peddanna’ and Vishal’s ‘Enemy) have garnered a positive talk from audiences and this Friday releases also received similar feedback. ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ ‘Raja Vikramarka’ and ‘Kurup’ did not impress any section of the audiences and next week, low budget films are making way and not even a single film is carrying buzz. When the circumstances are so, audiences would not prefer to look at cinema hall.

Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Good Luck Sakhi’ and young hero Raj Tarun’s ‘Anubhavinchu Raja’ are scheduled for release in the last week of November. The expectations on these two films are comparatively low and so trade analysts are apprehensive and they have come to an opinion that November is the bad omen for Tollywood and ticket counter.

The Tollywood box office will bounce back in December first week with the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Akhanda’ and till Sankranthi next year, one after the other big film make a queue.
