It’s second back-to-back movie for producer Miryala Ravinder Reddy with director Boyapati Srinu, but Akhanda marks his first time association with Nata Simham Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film Akhanda is slated for release on December 2nd. Meanwhile, the producer shared interesting facts about the film, during his chitchat with scribes.
What was the impact of corona on your film?
We started Akhanda, before corona first wave was started in India. We released a teaser, after first lockdown. After second lockdown, we released another teaser. After the lockdown was lifted, we shot climax portions. I think Akhanda will decide destination of next big films in Telugu.
How’s was your journey with Balakrishna?
I can’t express in words about my journey with Balakrishna. He is completely a different person when you move closely with him. He indeed is very different on screen.
Do you feel nervous, as release got delayed numerous times?
Akhanda was supposed to release in May, 2020. But it got delayed. It’s not in our hands. Before second lockdown, almost shoot part completed, except for climax and a song. We even got good OTT offers, in the meantime. But, this scale of films needs to be watched in theatres. Krack was released, after first lockdown and it went on to become a big hit. There was not much negative impact, after first lockdown. But the impact was huge, after second wave. The response for the film will prove that there are no corona cases.
Are buyers happy with your decision on release date?
To be honest, we left the decision of film’s release to buyers. Initially, we planned to release Akhanda on December 24th. It’s their decision to prepone the movie to December 2nd.
How did the film come out?
Audience will get hooked to screens, just after 20 minutes after the start of the movie till the end. It’s a visual wonder.
How did you get the chance to produce hat-trick film in Balakrishna-Boyapati combination?
Boyapati was supposed to make Balakrishna’s 100th film. He prepared the story during Legend and Maharjathakudu was the working title. When they wanted to start with the film with the different title of Akhanda, Boyapati recommended my name.
Is Akhanda an apt title for the film?
Akhanda means infinite and undeniable truth. Akhanda is an apt title and you will accept it, after watching the movie.
Will people get connected to Aghora character?
Aghoras are very much related to the society. They react to God and nature, rather than individual things. How such a character comes and resolves the problems is the crux of the story. Aghora’s is not an ordinary character. It’s no less than a superman.
Why didn’t you choose Sankranthi for the film’s release?
Everybody wants to come for Sankranthi or Dussehra. We discussed with industry biggies and they asked us to release the movie on December 2nd. We must appreciate Dil Raju for postponing his F3 to February to give more space to Sankranthi releases.
