RRR
Of course, for the new generation, the song Janani from RRR gave goosebumps with its visuals as it happens to be such soul-stirring one. But then, for some senior movie lovers, they were taken on a nostalgic ride ever since this song was out there. That is because of some visuals matching to the tone and intensity they have seen some 25 years ago.
Director S Shankar’s “Bharateeyudu” featuring Kamal Haasan in the lead is a terrific movie, not just a commercial blockbuster but also a superbly crafted film on freedom struggle too. Definitely after watching the looks of Ajay Devgan in Janani song, one remembers Sethupati from Bharateeyudu in the flashback. At the same time, Alia Bhatt taking up something like sand or kumkum and putting a tilak on the forehead is also reminding us of Kamal giving similar tilakam to Sukanya in that film.
Some cine experts say that the Bharateeyudu touch is quite obvious in RRR and Rajamouli might have got inspired by that veteran film to make something that is more spine chilling and hard-hitting. As Rajamouli is also known for taking out some cold scenes from old films and crafting them in a pulsating way for his films, we have to see if he used any remodified ideas based on Shankar’s Bharateeyudu as well.
