ChitramTV Services Stopped

Published by

In response to the lawsuit filed by DISH Network in March 2021 against ChitramTV for huge copyright infringement, The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas has passed its judgement in DISH Network favour and imposed a massive 31 million dollars penalty on ChitramTV.

Texas Court passed an injection and asked registries and registrars to disable domains and ordered third party server companies to terminate services. This makes it difficult for ChitramTV to sell and operate in the US. The court enjoined ChitramTV and its resellers from distributing, selling and promoting setup boxes. The third-party service providers now and in the future are not allowed to operate ChitramTV in the US.

Earlier, DISH Network, a member of The International Broadcaster Coalition Against Piracy (TIBCAP), has accused ChitramTV of obtaining DISH broadcasts and transferring them to ChitramTV and streaming them to ChitramTV subscribers.

IBCAP Executive Director Chris Kuelling welcomed the court’s decision and said that – “We are very pleased with this legal victory as it will enable us and our members to shut down one of the most popular South Asian pirate services operating in the U.S. A dealer that continues to sell ChitramTV after receiving notice of the injunction will be in contempt of the Court’s order and liable for further damages. Dealers should be aware that it’s not worth risking their business by selling pirate IPTV services.”

Stringent laws are needed to prevent piracy, and users should access content only on legal platforms.
