Every week, especially if there are no festivals around, all over the world movies release only on Friday because most of the countries have Saturday and Sunday as public holidays.
The situation is different in UAE however as the Emirates have Friday as their public holiday. That’s why the first-day collections will be good in Dubai and other Arab cities, but the next two days will be dry.
Looks like that situation is going to be changed with UAE deciding to leave the Islamic public holiday and shift towards the widely accepted Saturday-Sunday weekend as most of the residents in the UAE hail from other countries only.
From January 2022, this decision is likely to be implemented with the week ending on Friday afternoon at 12 and then restarting on Monday only. This will give a big boost for big films like RRR, Bheemla Nayak and Radhe Shyam that are hitting cinemas in Jan 2022 as collections from Dubai, where Telugu popularity is quite good, are likely to rise.
While Telugu films have a good advantage, Malayali films and Hindi movies will now do a feast as UAE consists of a larger Mallu population followed by North Indian crowds.
After the corona pandemic really shook the industry, these developments happening at many places are giving a breath of sigh to the film industry for the sure. We have to see how our movies will cash on this new development in UAE from now onwards.
