Natural Star Nani’s periodic film Shyam Singha Roy directed by Rahul Sankrityan under Niharika Entertainment is gearing up for release on December 24th. Promotions are in full swing for the movie and there are high expectations on it, as teaser, trailer and songs got thumping response.
Today, production designer Avinash Kolla interacted with media and informed how tough it was to erect sets for this periodic movie set in Kolkata backdrop in 70s. As is known, Sai Pallavi will be seen as a Devadasi in the movie and she will be seen dancing in temple.
The temple we’ve seen in teaser and trailer is the biggest one in the movie. “It took nearly 3 months-time to construct the set and 300 people worked for it every day. All the sets in the movie were built in Hyderabad and this particular set was constructed in a 6-acre land,” informs Avinash Kolla.
He says many in the industry saw the set and expressed their doubt, why such detailing for the temple set. “We don’t see Kolkata culture anywhere in the country. We can only imagine how a temple for Devadasis will look like. We have constructed the set, as per the requirement of the story.”
The production designer heaps praises on his producer Venkat Boyanapalli. “The producer didn’t ask me single question till date. We need such producers for films of these kinds. Then only we can get the desired output.”
