Box Office: ‘Pushpa’ breaks the web of ‘Spiderman’ in India

Published by

The last weekend witnessed a big clash at the Indian box office. Icon Star Allu Arjun’s latest flick Pushpa: The Rise had locked horns with Hollywood biggie Spiderman: No Way Home. Prior to their releases, it was assumed that Pushpa will be dominated by Spiderman. However, Allu Arjun’s action thriller proved the predictions wrong.

Spiderman arrived a day early than Pushpa. It had a stunning start at the box office as it collected Rs. 32 crores net (Rs. 41 crores gross) on the first day. The movie collected Rs. 46.47 crores net and 59.34 crores gross in the next two days of its release. The collections were good on Sunday as well.

As per the reports, Spiderman collected Rs. 109.14 crores gross in India over the release weekend. This makes it the seventh Hollywood film to gross 100 crores in the Indian market. It is also Sony’s biggest hit in India to date.

Coming to Pushpa, the film grossed Rs. 71 crores at the box office on the first day. It was expected that the movie may not do well in North India. But the north audiences have proved the analysts wrong and flocked into the theatres of Pushpa. As a result, the film’s Hindi version collected Rs. 12 crore net in the first three days.

Pushpa collected a gross of more than Rs 144 crores across the world during the release weekend. This proves that Allu Arjun’s film performed extremely well at the domestic box office in spite of facing stiff competition from Spiderman: No Way Home.

Meanwhile, it has to be seen how these movies will sustain at the box office in the coming days.
