I Cried Out Of Gratitude: Sai Pallavi

Published by

Natural Star Nani and Sai Pallavi have worked together for the second time for Shyam Singha Roy. Since their first movie MCA was blockbuster, expectations are quite high on SSR for various other reasons. Today, Sai Pallavi interacted with media. Here are excerpts.

What you liked the most about Shyam Singha Roy?
We get an idea about a film when we read a script. We believe in few things. Actors try to explore different things in movies, when they get opportunity. What I liked the most about Shyam Singha Roy was getting an opportunity to explore the psychology of Devadasis.

Do you feel dance plays an important role in your movies?
I feel dance played big role in Love Story. There was scope for dance in Shyam Singha Roy as well. I don’t know classical dance, but Rahul believed me. Since all the dancers were classical dancers, I got scared initially.

Tell us about your look tests for the film?
We get to explore, when we are doing period films. We tried different looks for Shyam Singha Roy. We did some photo shoots with different looks.

Did you do any research for Devadasi character?
I studied about Devadasi system during my school days. They were God sevaks. But it became a bad word later. However, we have taken how much it’s needed for the film. It’s a film about Shyam, so we didn’t explore unnecessary things.

Why did you get emotional during pre-release?
I got tears in my eyes out of gratitude. I enjoyed performances of singer Anurag Kulkarni and also the dancers on stage that day. I wanted to thank all my directors and producers.

How comfortable you’re working with Nani?
There were only 20 to 30% scenes between Nani and me in MCA. It’s mostly a love track between us. But the characters here in Shyam Singha Roy are different. There’s more than love in it. Comfort wise, it’s same.

How’s it working with director Rahul Sankrityan?
Rahul has very clarity about everything, and he knows what the story needs. We first shot the last sequence between Nani and me.

Tell us about your next projects?
Virataparvam is done with shoot. Dubbing work is pending. My Tamil film is also ready for release. I’ve no qualms in doing OTT content
