Nani, Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty-starrer Shyam Singha Roy will release in theatres on December 24. Ahead of the release, Nani shared interesting aspects about the movie in question-and-answer session with media.
How do you feel, as you’re having theatrical release after 2 years?
I’m a big fanboy to watch movies in theatres. Due to unavoidable circumstances, my last two movies released on OTT. I enjoy watching FDFS. I’m excited to experience the joy of watching my movie in theatre.
Shyam Singha Roy is a period film, how different is it?
We got a perfect story and things don’t look forcible. We got good technical team, so that we could make the movie convincingly. The period portions will appear very authentic. I’ve many golden memories with the movie.
Your look as Shyam is akin to that of Kamal in Hey Ram, what do you say?
Since I’m a fan of Kamal Haasan, there’s some inspiration in my look. But story wise, it has no connection with any movie. The character Shyam looks chubby because of the body language. I didn’t gain weight for the role. Costume designer to art director put in lots of efforts. Extra care was taken even for background artists.
How different is Vasu’s character?
Vasu’s is a relaxed life. We didn’t want to show cinema troubles in these portions. It’s an entertaining track.
How did you feel when you first heard the story?
I immediately gave nod, when I fist heard the script. We started shooting after 5 months, as I was working for another movie. In the meantime, they completed all the pre-production formalities.
Will the movie have high moments?
There are many emotional high sequences in the movie. There are four stunning episodes which will amaze audience in theatres.
Did you feel it risky to work with a newcomer like Rahul Sankrityan?
I’ve seen same qualities in Gautam and Rahul. They are very settled and don’t express much. We’re surprised to see the way he spoke at pre-release. We didn’t see him earlier like that. It seems, the calm going people save their energy for such moments. He handled the movie perfectly.
Does Shyam fight against Devadasi system?
Shyam’s fight is against the bad and Devadasi is just one element. He is an atheist and is a follower of communism.
It’s second film for Krithi Shetty. How’s she on sets?
Krithi Shetty is very new to films. She is very passionate and loves to learn new things. She wishes to do all kinds of movies.
How important were Sirivennela’s lyrics for the film?
Sirivennela penned two songs for the film. Interesting aspect is Sirivennela disclosed the whole story with Sirivennela song. There is no other writer in the world who can write like him. Pranavalaya will appear like a duet as well as a devotional number. It’s an end of an era.
What differences you found in Sai Pallavi from MCA to SSR?
She didn’t change much. There were only few scenes between us in MCA. We thought of doing a movie which will have challenging roles for both of us. We got to play challenging roles with SSR. She did her part effortlessly.
