Known for his atypical choice of films, Sree Vishnu created a niche for himself by not sticking to one particular genres. His next outing Arjuna Phalguna directed by Teja Marni under Matinee Entertainment is also another different action entertainer with a unique concept. The actor in his interview to media disclosed interesting aspects of the movie.
What do you like the most about Arjuna Phalguna?
I mostly worked with newcomers who have great writing skills. Since I also worked in the direction department, story was my prime priority and I used to give my inputs to directors. However, I saw a skilful director in Teja Marni. He dealt emotional scenes quite convincingly. He started giving me shocks from day one itself. He exceeded my expectations. We shot the movie in just 55 days, that too in outdoor locations.
When did Teja Marni narrate the story to you?
When he came to narrate me the story of Arjuna Phalguna, Johaar wasn’t released. It’s based on a true incident and the story is completely set in Godavari backdrop. The initial idea was 5 friends work in a cool drink manufacturing company in the village. As it requires permission, we changed it to soda. These friends actually complete their degree and decide to relax for few days. They don’t want to go to cities for job and are happy with low pay to stay with their family in the village.
What’s the story behind Arjuna Phalguna title?
Our elders used to chant all the names of Arjuna, when there are thunderstorms or they are in any sort of trouble. But, actually Arjuna Phalguna is enough to get some positive vibes. We had other title in mind, but changed it as we felt it will be controversial.
Didn’t you feel the scene of village volunteer controversial?
Apparently, the sequence in the trailer made it appear to be controversial. But you won’t feel it controversial, after watching the movie. I make sure female characters in my films are shown with great respect. I also make sure my movies won’t have any objectionable scenes.
You’re a fan of Venkatesh, director is NTR’s fan. How did you feel playing an NTR fan?
For me, all the heroes are very great. I like all of them equally. When I get an opportunity, I will use it to voice greatly about them. There’s nobody who doesn’t like NTR. The film doesn’t even have cheap fans wars.
Your experience of shooting for the most tough sequence of railway track?
Most of the movie was shot in Godavari districts, except for the railway track episode. We got permission for the same in Odisha. Director cautioned me not to look down while running on the track on the bridge. But when I watched down, I was so panicked.
What are the major highlights of Arjuna Phalguna?
Set in village backdrop, the film has terrific emotion. It has our culture and traditions. The emotion between friends is shown beautifully. There is fun as well. It will give you a new experience and you will travel with the characters. There is equal importance for all the characters. There indeed is no special hero character in the movie.
How was it working under Matinee Entertainment banner?
Niranjan Reddy and Anvesh Reddy are very supportive. They didn’t question us on anything. We completed the entire shoot in just 55 days.
Tell us about your next projects?
Bhala Thandanana will be my next release. It’s an action drama. I’m also doing a film with a debutant Pradeep Varma. Lucky Media is producing it. Only 30 days of shoot is pending. It is a police officer biopic with intense emotions.
