From the past couple of days, several opinions and speculations have come up that the long-awaited RRR might be considered for a postponement. The film is scheduled for a grand release on Jan 7, 2022. Due to the ongoing scare of the Omicron variant, cinemagoers were worried that the magnum opus might be pushed further as the future seems bleak even for the entertainment industry.
But Rajamouli says a big No for any more postponements. The makers are sticking to the release date of January 7. Even in yesterday’s promotional and pre-release event in Kerala, Rajamouli echoed the same and said that they will stick to the scheduled plan. With Jakkanna’s words, it is clear that RRR will treat the massive fans very soon. And the chances of procrastination is pretty slim.
It may happen only if two of the cardinal markets such as Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra are closed. Citing the present scenario, Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu will definitely be operational as the cases are still under control. And the team of RRR is confident in the release and how the film will bring in the audience wherever the cinema halls are operational.
After the entire TFI came together to support RRR by rescheduling their film releases (SVP, F3, Bheemla Nayak) around Jan 7, Rajamouli feels that it is not ethical to delay the release. Also, the local exhibition community in Andhra and Telangana have come forward to support the producers of RRR. “The entire exhibition community in APTS have agreed to allot 100% showcasing to RRR on the day of its release. This means, each and every show on each and every screen in APTS will screen RRR on January 7 in an unprecedented manner.
To much surprise, the trade of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala too have come forward to lend their support. The team is overwhelmed by the support and love. Even in the North, the film can get respectable figures as they are hoping that Maharashtra will be operational and Delhi might also ease out on the restrictions by January 7. Talking about overseas, the advances of RRR have opened in the international markets and tickets worth Rs 20 crore have already been sold in the US. The only issue here lies with Hindi belts and in this regard, fingers are crossed.
