After witnessing some biggest films like Pushpa, Spider-Man: No Way Home, 83, filmmakers were expecting a bigger footfall in theatres in 2022. But looks like the Omicron variant is once again leaving cinemagoers and filmmakers in the game of procrastination and the latest rumour is, the most anticipated film RRR is being postponed.
Rajamouli’s forthcoming film RRR has piqued the interest of fans and this is the current most-hyped film in India. Since the time the trailer has released, fans have been waiting to witness the magic of Rajamouli in theatres. The film is scheduled for release on Jan 7 2022. But looks like the makers are reconsidering their release plan. The official announcement on this is awaited.
After trade analyst Taran Adarsh and Rajamouli himself said that the film will release on Jan 7 at any cost, fans breathed a sigh of relief. But today, things have been said otherwise, particularly after the film industry seems to be under threat once again with many producers reconsidering the release of their films across cinemas.
A couple of days ago, Rajamouli said that it is unethical to postpone the film after the entire TFI came together to support RRR by rescheduling their film releases (SVP, F3, Bheemla Nayak). It gave huge confidence that RRR will finally come out this week. However, several state governments have imposed restrictions on occupancy in cinema halls and citing the ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh, DVV Danayya is reconsidering the release date. The whole confusion will anyway be cleared after the team makes an official announcement today evening.
