With Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR announcing an exit from the Sankranthi race and with rumours popping up that even Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam will also move out from the date, now a bunch of films have decided to hit the silver screen on Sankranthi eve. Guess what, the number is close to a dozen now and no matter what, everyone is trying their level best to get theatres.
With RRR exiting the race, producer Dil Raju brought his own Rowdy Boys into the picture first, declaring Jan 14th as the release date of the movie. That brought us doubts that even Radhe Shyam is also getting postponed.
This is followed by Rajasekhar’s Shekhar and Sitara Entertainment announcing their DJ Tillu’s release as well. Both these films are targeting Jan 14th release.
Then comes Rana’s 1945, locking Jan 7th, a date which is also being looked up by two other small films, Athidhi Devo Bhava and Veyi Subhamulu Kalugu Neeku.
MS Raju’s 6 Days 7 Nights and Kalyaan Dhev’s Supermachi are also targeting Jan 14th only.
Then comes Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju which might hit cinemas on Jan 15th, while Mahesh’s nephew’s Hero is also trying to release on the same date. That takes the count to nearly 12 films that are getting released in just a week’s span.
A couple of other small budgeted films are also trying to secure theatres in the same season. One wonders what this mad rush is about, but that makes sure that no film will get proper box office collections even if they are termed as hit films.
