When Bangarraju was contemplating to release amid the possible biggest releases of the year like RRR, Radhe Shyam, and Bheemla Nayak, many assumed it remains the biggest mistake. But luck stayed with Bangarraju and being a non-pan-Indian film also favored it for an almost-solo release.
RRR and Radhe Shyam decided to stay away from Sankranthi’s release arena while Bheemla Nayak paved the way for others weeks back. Now that the official release date is January 14, the trade analysts are putting up some possible numbers for Bangarraju’s performance at the box office. Though there are some 5 to 6 medium-budget films trying to cash on the season, Bangarraju alone has the edge over others. Ajith’s Valimai also stepped out from the race leaving Bangarraju with a chance to collect big.
So looking at the trade, Bangarraju is making a 40 plus crore business from pre-release. Taking the additional advantage from the situation, Annapurna Studios and Zee network are heard to have demanded higher prices and surprisingly the distributors have no qualms about it.
An average talk for Bangarraju can make it a Housefull movie and if it garners a superhit talk like Soggade Chinni Nayana, Bangarraju may even collect a giant 100 cr gross. The numerical analysis and the solo release for Sankranthi are exciting for all Akkineni fans, but there is a risk if the cases go up drastically in Telugu states.
Though there are no curfews and lockdowns in Telangana and AP, the neighboring states have already started many restrictions. If at all the situation is normal in Telugu states and if the theaters manage to deliver four shows a day, Bangarraju might emerge as the career-best for both Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.
