AP Ticket prices row continues to bog down the forthcoming biggies. Several filmmakers have already raised their serious concerns over the infeasible ticket prices in AP. As the ticket prices were rock bottom, it’s very unlikely for medium and big-budget films to recover their costs.
From Pawan Kalyan to Nani to Narayana Murthy to Ram Gopal Varma have openly blasted the AP government. The likes of Chiranjeevi are doing their best to hold talks with the AP government. Mohan Babu has shot off a letter to stay united and take up the ticket prices issue.
Amidst all this, Nagarjuna’s response on ticket prices the other day has come as a shocker to the industry. Nag stated that the existing ticket prices in AP are enough for his film Bangarraju. He said that the ticket prices won’t affect his film. Well, Nag might be just presenting his version and might be only considering his film’s fate. But what about the other films who are facing the brunt?
Given that Nagarjuna shares personal rapport with CM Jagan, his comments on ticket prices in the industry are perceived by many as ‘selfish’. A star like Nag should instead extend solidarity to the people who are raising their voice against the ticket rates and other curbs imposed by the AP government on Tollywood. Exhibitors, distributors and producers in turn are badly affected by the move.
On the whole, Nag’s comments are not welcoming, especially at this juncture. Since these comments are going to help AP government and ministers Perni Nani, Kodali Nani. In turn, Nag’s comments are likely to affect the prospects of other filmmakers who are trying their best.
