And finally, Anushka Sharma is back to the big screens. The actress, who was last seen in the 2018 film Zero, has shared the first look from her next film Chakda Xpress. The film is based on the life of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami.
Anushka plays the titular role and while sharing the short teaser, she wrote a long note that it is a special film to her because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. This is the first film about the world of women’s cricket and the story revolves around the time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud.
Anushka wrote that Chakda Xpress is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped Jhulan’s life and also women’s cricket. She also mentioned how Jhulan had a fighting and extremely uncertain cricketing career. “She strived to change the stereotype that women can’t make a career out of playing cricket in India so that the next generation of girls had a better playing field,” read the post.
Chakda Xpress is Anushka Sharma’s first project after the birth of her daughter Vamik. While the release date of the film has not been announced, it will release on Netflix.
