After the stupendous success of Baahubali at the Indian box office, many admirers of this film felt happy that Netflix has decided to make a webseries of it. Now that they have dropped it many are trying to find out the reasons.
Cut to the point straight, writer Anand Neelakantan has written a book titled “The Rise Of Sivagami”, trying to create the story that happened 40 years before the Baahubali 1 movie’s story. That deals with the love story of Sivagami and Kattappa, as well as other developments in Mahishmati. And Netflix has decided to make it into a web series, titled, “Baahubali: Before The Beginning’, but now shelved it.
Well, some screenwriters have well in advance stated that the book could not be converted into a TV series, but can be done if Rajamouli is ready to give inputs and supervise the total making of it. However, producer Shobu Yarlagadda who produced Baahubali is said to have failed to convince Rajamouli to do the same, and that led to many troubles down the line if rumours are to be believed. With almost 150 crores spent on the project, the makers still went to stop it. May be they did not want to spend more crores on it going further.
Though Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru directed the total web series and carved out the first copy, Netflix never liked it. With not being able to fix the script stuff, and being unable to find the right people to carve the series, finally, the OTT giant has shelved the total project. One wonders why Rajamouli hasn’t involved with this project if the above rumours are anything to go by.
