Priyamani is one of the few actresses who proved her versatility with a wide spectrum of different roles. She broke free from her established comfort zone and gave some remarkable performances. Recently, she also carved a niche for herself among Hindi speaking audiences with The Family Man series.
In a recent interview, Priyamani lauded how things in the film industry are changing for good. The actress said that gone are the days when the heroine was just considered as glamour quotient. She further elaborated her statement saying that glamour quotient doesn’t mean revealing clothes or romance with big heroes in some snowy backdrop. But somewhere down the line, the roles heroines play today have the power and importance in the storyline.
Lauding Samantha for ‘Oh Baby’ and Nayanathara for her women-centric roles, Priyamani said that heroines today are beyond the pretty face. “Actresses play heroine oriented projects where they are the real heroes and carry the entire film on their shoulders”. Talking about Nayanthara, Priyamani said, “she is dabbling in both a normal commercial cinema where she is being paired opposite Rajinikanth or Vijay and simultaneously, doing movies like Netrikarann, Maya and such wonderful projects”.
Talking about Sam’s Oo Antava song, the actress said “Samantha looked hot in the song and not just me, even my husband found her hot. This is something she has not done in her whole career. Kudos to her for taking it and accepting it gracefully. The song is trending and has become the number one song. The choreography is done so beautifully and I’m repeating myself, Samantha looked hot in the song.”
She expressed contentment for people accepting heroines the way it is today. “They have more than it to contribute to the cinema. Now the whole scenario has changed where a lot of us are getting equal importance.” On the work front, Priyamani has Virata Parvam waiting for the release. Also, her other film Bhamakalapam will soon premiere on Aha.
