The impact of the third wave of the COVID-19 is slowly reducing in India. Thus, many state governments have started lifting the night curfews and 50% occupancy rules in the theatres. As a result, films that were put on hold are now gearing up for release.
As there are many films lined up for the release, we will see some big clashes at the box office. One such clash is between Gangubai Kathiawadi and Valimai. The former is a Bollywood biggie which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and features Alia Bhatt in the lead role.
The makers have recently announced that the film will hit the screens on February 25. The trailer of the movie is already out. There is huge anticipation around this movie and it is expected to open big across the country.
On the flip side, the makers of Ajith’s Valimai confirmed the other day that the film will hit the screens on February 24.
Apart from Tamil, it is also being released in Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. As it is being bankrolled jointly by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, Valimai is expected to get a good share of screens in North India.
Moreover, the success of Pushpa: The Rise proved that the North Indian audiences are encouraging South Indian action flicks. Valimai is an out-and-out action thriller that is made for mass audiences. On top of that, it features Bollywood heroine Huma Qureshi as the female lead. Thus, it has a fair chance of doing well in the North and can give a tough competition to Gangubai.
We have to see which of these two films will end up as a winner at the box office.
