Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and director Ramesh Varma’s stylish action entertainer Khiladi and produced by KLU chairman Koneru Satyanarayana is hitting the screens on 11th of this month. The producer ahead of the film’s release interacted with media.
How did the film happen?
Ramesh Varma narrated the story to me and I liked it. I suggested Ravi Teja’s name for it. Ravi Teja gave his nod immediately, after listening to the script. Writer Srikanth Vissa penned dialogues for the film. Interetsingly, Ravi Teja asked us to start the project immediately.
What really impressed you to produce this film?
I always believe in story. In fact, the intriguing story is the reason for the success of Rakshasudu. I liked the story of Khiladi as well. I told Ravi Teja that Khiladi will become biggest hit of his career. Although it’s a regular commercial cinema, it will appeal to family audiences as well. The story is very new to us. It gives a feel of watching a Bollywood movie. The sequences shot in Italy are of Hollywood standard. Production values will look lavish.
What’s your prediction on the film?
I’m very much confident on the movie, because I’ve already watched it. The film has come out really well.
Why did you present a luxury car to Ramesh Varma?
Ramesh Varma asked me to watch the movie and I was spellbound by the outcome. I thought of presenting something to him. Then, I gifted him the car. Khiladi is going to be a blockbuster.
Why did you enter films?
Although I have educational institutions and other businesses, I’ve ventured into films for my son Havish. I produced movies only for him. Havish has more interest in movies.
Why did you associate with Pen Studios?
We tied up with Pen Studios to take the film to Pan India level. We will be releasing it in Hindi, along with Telugu.
Didn’t you feel it risk to release the film, when there is night curfew in AP?
It’s a solo release for Khiladi and it will have massive release in Nizam. We’ve asked for permission for 4 shows in AP. Most probably, there won’t be any big-ticket film releasing until February 25th. Thus, there will be no stopping for the film, until then.
Is Khiladi a remake?
We initially planned to remake a Tamil film with Ravi Teja. However, we scrapped it and made Khiladi with a fresh subject.
Did Ravi Teja dub for the Hindi version?
We are releasing the movie grandly worldwide. Fortunately, there’s no competition for the film in Hindi as well. Ravi Teja didn’t dub for the film in Hindi. I hope, it will do wonders in Hindi as well.
What’s Havish’s next project?
Havish is presently doing a film called Sanjay Ramaswamy. It’s a wonderful story with a gripping screenplay. Then, we are making a film with him under A Studios. We are also planning Rakshasudu 2. A 100 Cr project Yodha is also in the pipeline.
What are your future plans?
We run Engineering colleges till date. Now, I’m planning to establish a university in 100 acres land. My focus will be more on entertainment than Engineering institution. I wish to make a world class entertainment-based university th
