In a disheartening news to the Indian music industry, veteran music composer Bappi Lahari passed away on Tuesday midnight. According to latest media reports, the 69 years old musician breathed his last while getting treated at a private hospital in Mumbai.
Incidentally Bappi was discharged from hospital on Monday after a month of medication due to yet to be disclosed reasons. But on Tuesday his health deteriorated and was rushed to hospital. Dr. Deepak Namjoshi who treated Bappi confirmed that the musician died due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
Bappi’s original name is Alokesh Lahari and he was born on November 27th in 1952 in Bengal. Bappi began his career in Bollywood in 1972 and soon he rose to fame with DJ style of composing tunes and he earned huge popularity.
Bappi Lahari also ventured into Telugu film industry with Superstar Krishna’s ‘Simhasanam’ and the film was a blockbuster. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Gangleader’ was one of the biggest musical hits of Bappi in Tollywood.
Bappi was survived by a son and a daughter. In 2014, he ventured into politics but he remained inactive.
