Published by

Shiva Kandukuri who made his debut with Choosi Choodangane appeared recently in Gamanam where he shared screen space with actors like Charuhasan and Shriya Saran. He won praises for his performance in the movie. Shiva celebrates his birthday today. The actor interacted with media today, on the occasion.

What really matters for you to sign a film?
I make sure my character in the film has a purpose. I did Gamanam as there was scope for me to perform in the film. It was released on OTT to wonderful response.

What did you learn from senior actors, technicians worked for Gamanam?
I’m fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with Charuhasan, Ilayaraja, cinematographer Gnana Shekhar VS. I learnt a lot from them. I instantly got connected to my grandfather’s character played by Charuhasan.

Do you like to star in commercial movies?
I want to come out of my comfort zone and do some content-rich movies. I can’t go against my believes. I wish to do content-oriented movies, during early stage of my career. Though I attempt commercial subjects, they should be very organic in narration. May upcoming film Manu Charitra is going to be organic. The character’s journey and the story will be very realistic.

What’s the care you take, before signing a film?
Firstly, I need to connect to every character I do. I also need have the belief on the script. Pushpa impressed one and all because Allu Arjun believed the character very much. If he didn’t have such belief, the movie wouldn’t have become such big hit.

Does your father give any suggestions?
My father has been in the industry for ages. However, I’m the decision maker to sign a film, though he gives some suggestions.

What do you say about competition in the industry?
At present, there’s lots of competition among young heroes in the industry. However, it’s a healthy competition. Everyone is willing to attempt different stories.

What do you say about OTT resolution?
OTT has become a big platform for both small and big budgeted movies. However, OTTs have turned out to be a big boon for small time movies. There’s lots of scope to tell content-based stories. It’s a big opportunity for newcomers. However, I feel, nothing can beat theatrical experience.

What are your next projects?
Manu Charitra’s shoot was already wrapped up. I’m starring in a crime thriller under the direction of a first timer Purushotham Raj. I’m also doing a web-series ‘Meet Cute’ produced by Natural Star Nani. I’m also considering to do another web-series.

Did you take any birthday resolution?
I didn’t take any birthday resolutions. I wanted to tell organic stories. Corona lockdown also helped the actors to pick different stories. Manu Charitra will arrive in theatres in 2 months.
