Hridayam is one of the recent blockbusters in the Malayalam Cinema. It has emerged as the biggest theatrical success in Mollywood in the COVID-19 era. Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, it featured Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Darshana Rajendran in the lead roles.
After its success, the makers of many producers from various film industries are planning to buy the remake rights of it. However, these are the reasons why we think it is not ideal to remake Hridayam in other languages anytime soon.
First and foremost, it would be a tough task to bring the feel of the original. Very few remakes have achieved this feat. Many of Hridayam’s elements like its cast, crew, music, locations, and cinematography brought a unique fresh feel to the film. It will be a herculean task for the remake filmmakers to bring that feeling back.
Music is another biggest strength of Hridayam. It has almost 15 songs in total and all of them are chartbusters. There are very less chances of remakes coming with that kind of a chartbuster album.
The principal cast of Hridayam consisted of not established actors but the ones who were yet to find their feet in the industry. Hridayam is the first big success in their respective careers. Bringing such non-established actors and scoring a hit in other languages is a tough task for sure.
Most importantly, each and everyone who had been a part of this film had put his/her heart into the film. Their hard work and love for this project were seen on the screens. There are very less chances of the remake versions to get that kind of dedication from the cast and crew.
Thus, we think it is not better to remake this movie as it is hard to recreate the feel.
