Yesterday, overseas Telugu film distributors Venkat Upputuri and Gopichand Innamuri of Radhakrishna Entertainment LLP, Mohan Kamma of Tolly Movies and Sumanth Sunkara of Canada Telugu Movies met Nandamuri Balakrishna and donated Rs. 14,48,700. The distributors whole-heartedly appreciated Balayya’s selfless service to the poor as the Chairman of Basavatharakam Cancer Hospital.
However, there’s more to the distributors’ donation than meets the eye. During the release of Balayya’s recent blockbuster, Akhanda, a section of media carried a negative campaign against the veteran actor.
Certain media houses had given caste colour to Akhanda’s success, alleging that fans belonging to Balayya’s caste had arranged Akhanda’s special benefit shows in the US and the Telugu states and that they had even distributed FDFS tickets to a large number of fans to register record openings.
However, the unanimous positive response from even common audiences and female audiences had vindicated Akhanda’s massive box office success and nullified the negative campaign against Balayya and his fans by certain media houses.
Now, yesterday’s touching gesture by the distributors has once again proven that it’s not negativity and narrow mindedness but only kindness that will always rise to occasion to help humanity. Needless to say, the distributors’ gesture has been appreciated by one and all irrespective of caste and political affiliation.
Coming to the negativity around Balayya, it’s high time trolls and shady media houses acknowledged all the good being done by the actor-politician using his stardom, fan base and political power than highlighting only his negatives. Until then, all the baseless allegations and negative propaganda will only vanish in thin air with time.
