Yesterday, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders for revised movie ticket prices. A few modified rules pertinent to ticket rate fixing have been made by making special exceptions for both small and high budget films. Megastar Chiranjeevi also took to his Twitter handle to thank CM Jagan for the same.
On the occasion of Women’s Day today, Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha Konidela attended the ‘Chiranjeevi Eye and Blood bank’ event and honoured women workers in the film industry. While exiting the building, the press mobbed around Chiru asking him to say a few words about Government’s new GO ticket rates.
When the reporters asked to respond, Chiru said “I will not answer any question right now. The answer may again turn controversial and dilute the holy moment of Women’s day”. The actor further said that he will not talk about the new GO on movie tickets today and “If you want, I will arrange a special press conference tomorrow and then talk on the news”.
When the reporters said that he is the one who initiated all this, Chiru said “I tweeted on this. Please go through it.” And once again, the reporter asked if he is happy with the new rules. Chiru replied, “Read my tweet again. I already expressed my happiness”. It is no secret that Chiru’s humble act earlier was criticized by a few sections of people. The actor was also slammed for ‘pleading’ Jagan over ticket pricing issues.
In the new GO, the government has reclassified the theatres into four categories – non AC theatre, AC/air-cooled theatre, special theatre, and multiplexes. Each category again has two subcategories – non-premium and premium.
