Are Animation Movies Really The Way Forward?

Published by

With Covid-19 making it touch for film shoots which need 50-150 men at work each day, many producers are looking at alternate options. While the likes of Ram Gopal Varma are making films that have fewer characters (though he is making sleazy films), producer Suresh Babu expressed his desire to make animation movies where there will be no physical contact among the crew.

Recently a film that raked up the idea of making more animation movies throughout India is none other than ‘Bombay Rose’. Made in 2019, this Indian animation film that won praise at many film festivals and will be premiered on Netflix next month. Looking that, many producers are now gearing up to create 2D animation films while some want to make costly 3D films too.

However, the major idea here is that as animators and other technical teams will sit inside the comfort of an air-conditioned office, and there is no physical contact, there is no question of passing the coronavirus. But then, there will be various team meetings, creating meetings and other discussions happening inside animation studios all the time, which are actually a reason to worry. Because studies indicate that droplets of saliva that are whooshed into the air when people speak might actually carry coronavirus in the air for 8 minutes or more.

Many filmmakers are however thinking that making animation movies is the best idea than doing live-action films as the risks are huge. Only time will tell if these films are the way forward, but the arrival of Covid-19 vaccine will change eveything.
