After Kashmir Files, Delhi Files & Abdul Kalam Biopic: Abhishek Agarwal

Published by

The Kashmir Files is the latest sensation which is running successfully in theatres. The film directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal received rave reviews and the response from the audience is also exceptional. As per trade pundits, The Kashmir Files will end up as one of the biggest hits of this year. Meanwhile, Abhishek Agarwal interacted with media.

What do you say about the response for the film?
Firstly, I would like to thank audience who have given us a huge success. More than that, I’m happy with the critical applause. I need to recall an incident that happened 5 days, before the release of the movie.

A lady came all the way from Delhi and searched for my office in Hyderabad. She was holding my hand and crying. She said she didn’t have words to thank me. “Nobody spoke about us for last 32 years,” said she. I feel that I’ve achieved an extended family of 5 lakh Kashmir pundits.

How did this film happen?
I was planning to make a film on the issue and Vivek also had plans to make a film on Kashmir Genocide. We met many people in USA, Canada and South Africa as well and travelled for nearly three and half months to what had happened then. We have a footage of 4000 hours of testimonials.

Why didn’t you promote the film aggressively?
It’s a small film. We spent less budget on publicity as well. The PIL got dismissed just one day before the release.

You’ve become more popular now, what do you say?
I feel more responsible now.

What do you say about PM’s meeting?
We didn’t get much support from anyone earlier. We got delighted when we got call from Prime Minister.

Do you have any plans of dubbing the movie?
We are planning to dub the movie in Telugu and other languages.

How’s it working with Anupam Kher?
Anupam Kher is also a Kashmir Pundit. He used to cry, while shooting for the film. It was not an easy journey. It was journey which I will never forget. Kashmiris used to bring food for us.

What are your next projects?
My dream project Tiger Nageswara Rao’s shoot will begin from April. It may take some time to start Abdul Kalam. I already announced Delhi Files with Vivek.
