The state of Karnataka is engulfed with ‘James’ mania. This film’s waves can also be felt in southern states as well and this can be attributed to Kannada Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar. In October 2021, Puneeth passed away leaving his millions of fans in dismay.
‘James’ being his last film, there was a huge buzz about it for the past couple of days. Coincidentally the film released on Puneeth’s birth date March 17th and Kannada film industry ensured it had a solo release as a mark of respect to the hero.
Films that were already running in theatres were removed and ‘James’ released in eighty percent of theatres in Karnataka. The film received maximum screens and the highest number of shows on the first day. Also early morning shows were held for the first time in many parts of Karnataka.
The Kannada film industry and celebrities promoted ‘James’ in their individual capacity and the result, the film is off to a flying start at the box office with positive talk spreading from the first show. ‘James’ has smashed all the existing box office records and Kannada people have owned the movie. ‘James’ will be minting Rs 100 crore in the first weekend and that would be a new record.
The atmosphere in Karnataka has also changed with the release of ‘James’ and at theatres Powerstar fans are rejoicing at the moment. Inside the cinema hall, the vibe is another level. Puneeth’s entry received a roaring response from fans just like we witness for Tollywood heroes in Telugu states.
Though the fans turned emotional recollecting the memories and blockbusters of Puneeth, they are happy that they got to see Puneeth on the silver screen for one last time. Fans added that ‘James’ is a befitting tribute to Puneeth and their hero will remain in their hearts forever.
Such events were never witnessed in Karnataka for a cinema hero and Kannadigas and outsiders were also surprised at such reception for Puneeth. He IS SPECIAL!!
