Can NTR & Charan Do Prabhas?

Published by

Prabhas was not a popular name in Hindi before SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali. But Baahubali did change his fate and cemented his position in Indian cinema.

It made him a Pan India star whose remuneration crossed Rs 100 Crore per film. It can be noted that Prabhas had believed in Rajamouli and surrendered to him totally where he patiently gave 5 years of his valuable time for the maverick filmmaker’s two films.

So, an average Prabhas spent 2.5 years of his time for Baahubali and it did give an invaluable return to him. His next Saaho too proved to be a winner at the Box Office in Hindi belt despite mixed reviews. Although his latest Radhe Shyam turned out to be a debacle in Hindi, Prabhas stardom is intact. He has an impressive line-up of films in Hindi including Prashant Neel’s Salaar, Om Raut’s Adipurush, Project K with Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Given this, Prabhas is certainly in a good spot of his career. Radhe Shyam’s failure may not affect him much unless and until his upcoming films meet unfortunate fate at the BO.

Now veering off to RRR, NTR and Ram Charan are not quite popular in Hindi. Just like Prabhas (Pre-Baahubali), Tarak and Charan are also relatively unknown in Hindi till RRR. While Charan’s Zanjeer was dud, he is now making a proper comeback in Bollywood with RRR.

NTR is a newcomer in Hindi. While Baahubali has no prominent cast from Hindi, the advantage RRR has is the prominent cast like Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn and the brand Rajamouli post Baahubali. Even Rajamouli did not have much popularity in Hindi before Baahubali. Only he had Makkhi (Eega) that was released in Hindi before Baahubali and garnered critical acclaim. Now, RRR is being promoted as a film from the director of Baahubali. This is certainly an advantage for RRR.

Ram Charan and NTR have especially spared 3 years of time believing in Rajamouli and hoping to get a national image like Prabhas. The moot question is will they do Prabhas? That’s a billion dollar question now. March 25th is the D-day that answers this question. No doubt, the craze in Telugu states and overseas markets is spellbound, all eyes are on how the film fares in Bollywood.
