The Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood Aamir Khan is one of the most bankable and sought-after actors today, especially after seeing a lot of ups and downs. The actor, in a recent interaction, revealed that he had decided to quit the film industry during the pandemic time.
Since his film Laal Singh Chaddha is about to release this year, Aamir said that he did not announce his decision thinking that people might mistake his announcement for a marketing tactic. The actor said that his ex-wife Kiran Rao became emotional when he told her about his shocking decision.
Aamir quoted “No, I quit. Nobody knows this. I’m saying for the first time, you will be shocked. I had informed my family that I won’t be doing any films from now onwards. Neither I’ll act nor I will produce any films. I don’t want to do all this”. The actor now prefers to spend more time with his family members including Kiran and her parents, his first wife Reena and her parents, and with his three children.
Aamir further said that his family was utterly shocked, especially after he conveyed the decision in an intense way. But when he also decided to tell people about the same he wondered if fans think it as his marketing scheme as his film Laal Singh Chaddha is about to release. “So I thought it’s better to not say this now. Once Laal Singh Chaddha gets released nobody will realise if I’m doing anything for the next three or four years. By then I’ll leave the industry and nobody will know,” the actor added.
Aamir also stood strong on his words and said that he had quit films in his heart. “I had left films in my heart. My children and Kiran explained to me I am doing the wrong thing. Kiran cried and said, ‘When I see you, I see films residing inside you. What are you saying I’m unable to understand”. He further added “A lot happened in two years, I quit the industry and came back”.
Meanwhile, his film Laal Singh Chaddha is set to release on August 11. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also features Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya.
