Usually, films get promoted by distributors most of the time, and after looking at those posters, people rush to the theatres those films are played at.
And in towns, we see theatre owners (exhibitors) also bearing the print and publicity cost such that their theatres would get business. However, multiplexes do promote films only but not the theatre itself.
Contrary to these marketing strategies, Hyderabad based AMB Cinemas which is owned by Mahesh Babu and Asian Cinemas together, is actually making use of every celebrity who visits their theatre.
Whenever a big celebrity is coming to watch a movie, they record the entry and exit of that celebrity, welcome him with a bouquet, and later will share that video on their social media platform as part of the digital promotion strategy.
Recently they have released the video of NTR, Kalyanram, NTR’s mother Shalini and his wife Pranathi visiting AMB to watch RRR in a similar fashion. Obviously, after watching these videos, the audience will get an excitement that they also should watch the respective film at the same theatre in order to get a kick like their heartthrob hero or heroine.
In this digital age, surely this is a good strategy to pull the audience and the AMB team deserves a mention for this.
