Rajamouli’s RRR has taken the nation by storm and grossed over Rs 750 crore worldwide in its first week and is now eyeing the coveted Rs 1,000 crore club. Touted as India’s biggest action drama, this intense and emotional extravaganza has struck a chord with fans across the globe with its undercurrent patriotism and fictitious portrayal of the legendary Telugu freedom fighters, Komuram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju.
Needless to say, following RRR’s humongous success, speculations about a possible sequel have been in full swing. Adding fuel to the fire, the film’s story writer V Vijayendra Prasad has given a clear hint about the sequel in a recent interview. “NTR came to my home recently and asked me about RRR sequel and I narrated a few storylines. Rajamouli was also present at that time and they both liked my ideas. God willing, RRR sequel may happen, in future,” the veteran writer said.
NTR and Ram Charan’s on-screen camaraderie, Rajamouli’s trademark emotional drama, the goosebumps inducing heroic elevations of Bheem and Alluri’s characters and the visual grandeur in RRR have left the audiences awestruck. While both Bheem and Alluri never crossed paths with each other in real life, Vijayendra Prasad and Rajamouli took cinematic liberties and weaved a memorable story that showcased the strong bond between both the iconic guerrilla warriors.
Only time will tell if Bheem and Alluri will join forces again to fight the British during India’s fight for freedom in a full-fledged battle in the film’s sequel. If explored deeply, the sequel surely has the possibility and potential to bring in real freedom fighters alongside Bheem and Alluri.
On the other hand, Rajamouli will need 2 years to wrap up his next project featuring Mahesh Babu. RRR’s sequel, if materialises afterwards, will only hit screens at least after 4 years from now. So, it’s too early to speculate on the sequel.
