Like it happened with big films like Radhe Shyam and RRR, now Andhra Pradesh Government has allowed even Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Aacharya to hike the ticket prices. And they permitted the distributors and exhibitors to hike the ticket price by ₹ 50 in all the areas, such that Aacharya will get a terrific opening. This led to controversy now.
While AP Govt is the first-ever government in India to control the ticket prices of movies, they have earlier issued GO that the hike will be permitted only if a film’s production cost excluding remunerations exceeds ₹ 100 crores investment, and if 20% of the film is shot in Andhra Pradesh, then the exemption will be given and will be permitted to hike the ticket price. However, Aacharya got a ticket hike though the production cost didn’t cost more than ₹ 100 crores, though the film was shot in Maredumilli forest of AP for nearly 25 days.
Some say that AP Chief Minister YS Jagan always had this soft corner for Megastar Chiru and hence this hiking without honoring the rules they have mentioned in the Ticket Pricing GO. Some say that the film’s producer Niranjan Reddy happens to be a lawyer who is taking care of many court cases of Jagan, and hence the favoring.
Whatever it may be, netizens are now trolling AP Chief Minister for allowing Aacharya to hike the ticket prices though it didn’t meet the criteria. Some are crying foul that they haven’t given similar permission to Bheemla Nayak and KGF 2.
