Puri Jagannadh and Vijay Deverakonda’s most awaited Liger has stunned the trade. Liger fetched a staggering Rs 99 Crore through its world-wide non-theatrical rights which include digital, satellite and music rights of all languages. The film’s digital and satellite rights were acquired by Star group for a whopping Rs 85 Crore. The audio rights of Liger alone raked in Rs 14 Crore in all languages that were bought by Sony Music.
Meanwhile, the talks for the theatrical rights in various languages are going on. Director Puri Jagannadh’s track record and producer Karan Johar (Dharma Productions) are adding a great value to the business deals of Liger which marks the Bollywood debut of youth icon Vijay Deverakonda. Liger is touted to be a racy action thriller. The film’s ensemble cast include Ananya Panday, Mike Tyson, Makrand Deshpande.
There were speculations that Acharya, iSmart Shankar and Romantic Nizam distributor Warangal Sreenu is the front-runner to bag the Nizam distribution rights. However, the talks are in the nascent phase and no one has been finalized yet for Nizam and Telugu states thatricals business. The makers seem to be weighing various options. It is buzzed that the film’s theatrical business is also expected to sell at fancy prices given the buzz.
