In the recent past, only South Indian films are ruling the Indian box office while Bollywood biggies are failing miserably. In the last few months, we have seen South Indian flicks like Pushpa, RRR and KGF 2 creating a sensation across the country.
On the flip side, Bollywood biggies like Bachchan Pandey, Jersey and Runway 34 failed miserably at the box office. Now, all eyes are on the next pan-India film that is coming from the South, Major.
Starring Adivi Sesh in the lead role, Major is the biopic of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who was martyred in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, this movie features Sai Manjrekar, Prakash Raj, and Revathi in the other key roles. It was shot simultaneously in both Hindi and Telugu. GMB Entertainment, A+S Cinemas, and Sony Pictures India jointly bankrolled this project.
The trailer of the movie will be unveiled on May 9. Industry insiders say that the film came out very well and has a good chance of doing well at the box office. Moreover, the film will definitely find a connection with the North audience because of the backdrop and story. The film indirectly carries a major responsibility of scoring big at the pan-India level, so that the actors of Adivi Sesh’s range will also make attempts to woo the North audience.
Let’s see if Major continues the trend of South Indian films ruling the Indian box office. It hits the screens on June 3.
